Press Release

The Wisconsin Division for Early Childhood (WDEC) and the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association (WECA) has named Jane Lind, Outstanding Partner in Early Education and Care

Jane Lind, a speed therapist through the Berlin Area School District at Clay Lamberton Elementary School, is deserving of this award for her endless dedication in partnership with families and children. She helps to provide services for young children and their families prior to the elementary years.  The nomination came from a parent whose son was one of Jane’s students.   This three year old little boy was full of frustration.  Jane not only helped him with his speech, but also helped to build his confidence and security while having a lot of fun. Jane is a well deserving recipient of the Outstanding Partner in Early Education and Care award. Her compassion and ability to take these young children under her wing and provide the support and dedication to them is breath taking.  She truly found her calling when she went into education

The awards ceremony was held during the 55nd Annual Wisconsin Early Childhood Education & Care Conference, “Children Connect Us”, October 22-24, 2009 at the Kalahari in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.

Other award recipients at the conference include Paula Clay, Early Childhood Teacher of the Year; Jean Gagner, Early Childhood Teacher of the Year; Kelly Jankowski and Dana Friederichs, Student Teachers of the Year, Eau Claire Family Literacy and The Breakfast Club, Collaborative Team of the Year.

The awards were presented by Mary Jo Hite, WDEC President; Julia Townsend, WECA President;  and Ruth Nyland, WDEC President-Elect; at the Conference Professional Development Luncheon.

Both WDEC and WECA are state chapters of national professional organizations devoted to insuring quality care and education for young children and their families.
