A Message from the WDEC President
                                            By, Mary Jo Hite

Dear WDEC members and friends,

Welcome to the Wisconsin DEC website! If this is your first time to visit our website, I hope that you will come back often to find out what is current news for your organization. The WDEC website and newsletter is designed to provide information and updates to Wisconsin DEC members on issues that are relevant to professionals working with young children birth to age 5 in Wisconsin.

Share membership information with your colleagues. Encourage them to join CEC/DEC so they too can receive the great journals and support from membership. I think that building and maintaining a strong membership is key to advocating for our profession and for the young children and families we serve.

Isn’t it amazing how quickly time passes? It seems like just yesterday this school year was starting and here we are beginning to wrap things up. Western Dairyland Head Start serves 126 children in full day, full year programming in Eau Claire and Black River Falls. Children receive programming in partnerships with licensed child care sites or Head Start centers. This is model for low-income parents who are working or going to school. Children benefit from receiving early childhood services on site and fewer daily transitions.

All the best for a great summer!

Mary Jo
